End of year message from the Chairman
The Christmas period ends a hard fought but successful year for the Band. The gradual re-build and integration of both Senior and Youth / Academy ensembles culminating in well deserved Contest successes at the South West and Leicester contests for the Senior band against stiff opposition.
Just as important to the Band and MD Steve Tubb the band presented a wonderful Christmas Concert at the Stroud Subscription Rooms on December 4th featuring both Senior and Academy / Youth Bands. If you’ve never experienced a Chalford Band Christmas Concert or a Summer Concert, packed full of fantastic music and more, you’ve missed out! This year the Christmas Concert combined both Seasonal and award winning non-Christmas arrangements in our infamous Concert style. Performing to a packed audience the band also announced its Young Player of the Year award presented to Albert Law and Senior Band Players’ Player award to Principal Euphonium Janet Allan.
Despite poor weather conditions the Band also performed to a full house at the Chalford Sports and Social Club at our annual ‘Christmas on the Hill’ concert on December 16th. The year end culminated in a quiz evening social event on Monday 19th.
The bands now take a short break and will regroup on Thursday January 5th (Academy 6:30pm: Senior 8:00pm) to start preparations for the Southwest Regional Championships to be held in Torquay on Saturday March 11th.
The Senior band is very pleased to announce the return in the New Year of cornet player Hannah McIntyre. We know that Hannah is excited to be playing again and the band are looking forward to welcoming her back.
The band would like to extend congratulations to one of our youth-developed players and former Senior Band Principal Euphonium Steve Parker who has been accepted into the Tredegar Band.
The band would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Thank you for your continued support to the organisation.
