The Academy Band (or training band as it was initially known) began life in the early 90’s and was created as a band where players of all ages and ability could join together to make music away from the more ‘serious’ Senior Band.

Like the Senior Band, the Academy Band has been a competing band and whilst it enjoyed a few visits to the 3rd section in 2014, 2015 and 2016, it is now back in the 4th Section from 2022 onwards.

Away from the competitions, the Academy Band also takes part in various concerts throughout the year including being part of the organisation’s flagship Summer and Christmas concerts.

Players are always welcome to apply to join the Academy Band particularly if you’re looking for a more ‘relaxed’ approach to banding. Please contact us on vacancies@chalfordband.co.uk if you’re interested in joining or would like to find out more.

Rehearsals are currently on Thursday evenings 6:30pm – 7:30pm.
